Consulting Practice:
The focus of my consulting practice is on supporting organizations create sustainable change that allows the organization to achieve its long term and short-term goals. Leadership Transition: The approach to this endeavor is to treat it not simply as an Executive Search but as a Transition Process that will support the board, staff and outgoing director and ensure that the new director makes a successful transition to a new leadership role. Whenever a long-term director (especially a founder), leaves an organization there are unique challenges in facilitating a smooth transition. I employ a three-step process to support a successful leadership transition that involves the entire organization: the board, staff, stakeholders and outgoing director. Finally, I provide executive coaching for the new director to support his/her transition to a new leadership role. |

Strategic Planning: Meaningful change within an organization begins with an exploratory process that includes, at a minimum, everyone who will be impacted by the change. My approach to strategic planning is to involve everyone in generating the ideas for change and creating the plan. As a result, everyone therefore has not only a commitment to the outcome but also specific, deliverable tasks that are designed to move the organization to its desired goals. Instead of giving the solutions, I facilitate this process using my coaching skills - through fierce questions, helping the organization tap into its own wisdom and resources. From these conversations I help the team generate an action plan that includes not only goals, but action steps, timetables and responsible parties that allows the organization to have a clearly agreed upon pathway forward. Unlike other consultants, I do not walk away after the plan is written - I continue in the role of an accountability coach, working with the team to facilitate implementation. Thus, these strategic plans do not go into the file cabinet but remain on the desk until fully implemented.
Board Governance: I support Executive Directors and their boards develop effective board governance practices. The goal is to ensure that the Board can comfortably lead the organization and provide support to the Executive Director. I provide a suite of tools that allow nonprofit boards to work together efficiently and productively.
